The Marostica pageant and living chess game has only be performed in twelve other locations around the world ouside Italy. This will be the first time it has been presented in the Southern Hemisphere and Melbourne is very fortunate to be the only Australian city chosen to see the unique event.
Former Governon of Victoria, Sir James Gobbo, who is the Commissioner for Italy within the Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development unit for Victoria, is very excited about the pageant.
He states "Marostica is once in a lifetime for Victorians to see this truly spectacular event.

And it is appropriate that Melbourne, as Australia's multicultural capital should host this Pageant. Marostica only comes to Melbourne because of the generous support of Vodafone and the Veneto - links that will enhance our trade and design skills. They chose to make this most impressive gift to Victorians and it is proof of our very special relationship". For lovers of Italy, romance - and yes, chess! Marostica is a unique opportunity for people of all ages to be part of history and see an age old tale of love and politics come to life as only the Italians can deliver...
A kingdom is in danger.
A heart hangs in the balance.
The game begins!
